As it's summer tradition, a LinkedIn post from my bike tours. This year we bike from camping ground to camping ground in Brandenburg, Germany. A few learnings along the way :-)
1. The bulky looking sleeping pad can stay since its comfy and light
Our sleeping pad looks like the biggest thing on the bike, we get lots of comments on it. In actuality It's the lightest and brings amazing sleeping comfort. Stop deleting things just because they look bulky.
2. Plans die on contact with weather
Monday's route survives until Tuesday's rain. Monday's cleanup plan survives until Tuesday's discovery. Adapt or get soaked.
3. Every Org needs one junk corner
My handlebar basket is chaos and I refuse to fix it. Every Org needs one weird catch-all Field too. Not all mess is debt. Some of it is just a junk basket.
4. Say hi, it's free
A friendly hi along the way costs nothing, breaks nothing, occasionally gets you extremely helpful tips. Same goes for talking to the people who actually use the Org before you start deleting their stuff.
5. Take the scenic detour to get a feel for the Org
Today I added ten unnecessary detour to look at a nice river. Sometimes I clean a part of the Org that isn't urgent, just because it feels great. Efficiency isn't always the point.
PS: My legs hurt but the view from the tent in the morning is worth it
